Background

Gustaf von Platen is a Nordic private equity investor who currently serves as a Principal at Celero Capital, a Stockholm- and Oslo-based mid-market buyout firm founded in 2022. He joined Celero in December 2023 (announced 3 October 2023), reuniting with FSN Capital colleagues Peter Möller, Kenneth Haavet, and Viktor Hansson, who founded Celero. At Celero he works across the full investment lifecycle — sourcing, executing, and developing portfolio platforms.

Before Celero, von Platen spent roughly seven years (c. 2016–2023) at FSN Capital, the leading Northern European mid-market private equity firm (established 2000, managing over €4 billion), where he held the title of Investment Manager. He began his career at J.P. Morgan in London as part of the Nordic M&A team, giving him an investment-banking foundation in Nordic deal-making before moving into private equity.

Academically, von Platen holds an MSc and a BSc in Business and Management from the Stockholm School of Economics (Handelshögskolan i Stockholm), as well as a BA in History from Stockholm University.

It is worth noting that his work — at both FSN Capital and Celero Capital — centers on control-stake buyouts and "buy-and-build" platform creation in established SME businesses, which is materially different from the "angel / seed" label carried in the source stub. Founders seeking pre-seed or seed venture capital are unlikely to find a fit here.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through Celero Capital, whose stated purpose is "to accelerate the development of companies for the benefit of all stakeholders."
  • Strategy: control-oriented buyouts and buy-and-build, frequently *creating* new platforms by merging several entrepreneur-owned Nordic SMEs into a single group (e.g., Reledo, Corteco, Opima, Aterion, Deltra).
  • Sectors: services, consumer goods, and niche industrials.
  • Geography: Nordic region, primarily Sweden and Norway.
  • Value-creation model: Celero applies hands-on "Celero Accelerator Modules" (CAMs) across pricing, sales & marketing, ESG, digital transformation, governance, and M&A.
  • Fund scale: Celero Capital Fund I closed 16 December 2024 at its €275m hard cap, with more than €300m under management including co-investment — implying meaningful equity checks appropriate to mid-market platform deals rather than small venture tickets.

Notable Investments

  • Reledo — leading Nordic facility-management platform for the SME sector; created by Celero in 2023 and reported to have grown EBITDA ~11x since inception; expanded into Finland (2024) and Denmark (2025, via MTM Service).
  • Corteco — Nordic "outer shell" (building envelope) renovation and maintenance group; established 2022 and expanded through acquisitions of Viking Entreprenør AS, CG Grundels Fönstersystem, and Plåtslagaren GH Johansson (2024).
  • Opima — platform serving the Swedish manufacturing industry, formed July 2024 from four specialized companies.
  • Aterion — Nordic power-industry platform established March 2025 with six entrepreneur-led companies.
  • Deltra — Nordic B2B industrial-supplies distributor created November 2025 with five Swedish companies.
  • Sporty Group — majority stake in a Norwegian fitness and training-services provider (90+ locations), acquired November 2025.
