Guy Barker

Guy St. John Barker (LLB, FRICS) is a Chartered Surveyor with more than 30 years' experience in the pan-European real estate market. He trained and spent 13 years with Knight Frank in London and Düsseldorf, helping establish the firm's German operations during the 1990s. He subsequently joined HypoVereinsbank AG in Munich as Head of Real Estate Asset Management, where he was responsible for building the bank's institutional real estate fund business to a volume of approximately €2.5 billion. In 2005, following the merger of HypoVereinsbank's international real estate fund business into Invesco, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Invesco Real Estate Europe.

In 2007, together with Tina-Kathrin Rauh, Barker co-founded Palmer Capital Continental Europe — the predecessor to today's Arcona Capital. He is a founding shareholder and principal of the firm, which operates from offices in Munich, Amsterdam, Prague and Warsaw and manages real estate investment and development assets across Northern and Central Europe. Reported assets under management have ranged from around €645 million (in earlier firm materials) to roughly €320 million across nine investment funds and ten European countries as of more recent reporting, with several funds licensed by the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM).

Alongside his executive role, Barker has been a permanent resident of the Czech Republic for over a decade and is active in the local business community. On 21 October 2020 he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the British Chamber of Commerce Czech Republic, succeeding Lukáš Ševčík. He has also served on the jury of the CEEQA (Central & Eastern European Real Estate Quality Awards).
