Background
Harry Dhand (full name Hareesh Dhand, born September 1957, British) is a long-standing corporate finance practitioner in the South of England. In 1997 he co-founded DHD Corporate Finance (Dhand Hatchard Davies) in Southampton alongside Simon Davies and Clive Hatchard. The boutique grew quickly, opening a second office in Reading in 1999, and in November 2001 it was sold to Tenon Group plc, becoming part of Tenon Corporate Finance.
He later worked with the same long-time partners at Spectrum Corporate Finance, the corporate finance and debt advisory boutique founded in 2010 by Simon Davies, Clive Hatchard and Ian Milne. Companies House records list "Hareesh Dhand" as a director of Spectrum Corporate Finance Limited from 4 April 2018 until 26 February 2021, the period ending as the firm was acquired. His correspondence address on the register is Spectrum's Reading office (Abbey Gardens, 4 Abbey Street, Reading RG1 3BA).
Spectrum positioned itself as the largest independent corporate finance and debt advisory firm in Southern England, providing M&A lead advisory and debt raising/refinancing to owner-managed businesses and their funders across the UK mid-market. In 2020 the firm completed 25 transactions worth over £900m and its debt team arranged some £440m of capital. In March 2021, FRP Advisory Group acquired Spectrum for £9.4m, folding its ~27 staff into FRP; Dhand's directorship of the limited company ended at that point.
Across his career, Harry Dhand has therefore been a builder and partner of corporate finance advisory firms (DHD → Tenon → Spectrum) rather than a documented venture or angel investor. Independent details on his education were not found in public sources.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Operates in corporate finance advisory — advising owner-managed and private-equity-backed businesses on M&A (sell-side and buy-side) and on raising/refinancing debt, rather than deploying personal venture capital.
- Firm focus (Spectrum) is the UK mid-market, with deal values frequently in the tens to low hundreds of millions of pounds, concentrated in the central South, South East and London.
- Sector-agnostic but with notable Spectrum activity in software/technology, insurance technology, business services, healthcare/medical communications and consumer.
- No publicly stated personal "angel" or "seed-stage" thesis or check size was found; the angel/seed classification appears to come from a third-party data source and is not corroborated by primary records.
Notable Investments
- VIPR — acquired by Tenzing Private Equity (Spectrum advised), 2020; insurance-technology business.
- Babble — sold by LDC to Graphite Capital (Spectrum advised), 2020; unified-communications/cloud provider.
- Porterhouse Medical — sold to imc group (Spectrum advised), 2020; medical communications agency.
- DHD Corporate Finance — co-founded 1997, sold to Tenon Group plc in 2001 (his own firm, an outcome rather than an investment).
