Heather Mccormick

Heather McCormick is the founder and managing partner of Credo Law Partners, a boutique corporate law firm in the Los Angeles area focused on business law and deal work for emerging-growth companies, venture capitalists, private equity firms, and other corporate clients. She practices as a general business and mergers-and-acquisitions attorney and has represented some of Los Angeles' preeminent private equity funds alongside the region's fast-growing technology companies. She is licensed in California (State Bar #200070).

Before law, McCormick attended the University of Pennsylvania as an undergraduate and worked as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in New York. She then earned a J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law (UC Berkeley) — where she served as senior articles editor of the law review — and an M.B.A. from the Walter A. Haas School of Business (UC Berkeley). Her practice specialties span corporate law, venture and angel capital, M&A, securities law, and private offerings.

McCormick began her legal career at Cooley LLP, the Silicon Valley firm, doing general corporate work with entrepreneurial companies through her fifth year as an associate. She then spent about three and a half years as in-house M&A counsel to Platinum Equity, the Los Angeles-based private equity firm, where she handled global M&A and acted as outside general counsel to smaller portfolio companies. She subsequently founded Credo Law Partners. She has also been associated with EFO Haven / Entrepreneurs Family Office (serving as president of EFO Haven Management Inc.).

Beyond her legal practice, McCormick is an active member of the Los Angeles technology and private equity communities. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Pasadena Angels — one of Southern California's most established angel networks — and has been a mentor at the Los Angeles Business Technology Center (a startup incubator).
