Background
Heiko Kottkamp-Ramann grew up in a small village in East Westphalia (Ostwestfalen), Germany, in a finance-oriented family that sparked an early fascination with numbers — by his account he was interning at the local bank at age 14 and completed a formal banker vocational training (Bankkaufmann). He went on to earn a degree in European Business Management from a private university of applied sciences in Paderborn, graduating with honors.
His early career combined banking and international finance operations. He worked as a customer advisor (Firmenkundenberater) at Sparkasse Herford in the late 1990s, then moved into e-commerce finance as Head of Controlling and Accounting at Bertelsmann Online (bol.com), where he ran controlling and accounting operations for Germany and Switzerland from roughly 2000 to 2002. He subsequently spent about six years (2003–2008) as International CFO of Parship (later part of the ParshipMeet Group), directing the online-dating company's financial expansion across some 14 countries.
Kottkamp-Ramann joined HV Capital — then known as Holtzbrinck Ventures — in October 2008, bringing his experience scaling fast-growing international ventures into the fund's finance leadership. As CFO and Managing Director he oversees HV's fund structures and management/advisory entities across Germany, Luxembourg, and Jersey, spanning the firm's Munich and Berlin offices. HV Capital was founded in 2000, manages assets in excess of €2.8 billion, and has backed roughly 225–250 companies, including early bets on Zalando, Delivery Hero, and FlixBus.
