Background

Hemanth Parasuram is the co-founder and a Managing Director of Virgo Capital, an Austin, Texas–based private equity firm he established in 2005 alongside co-founder Guhan Swaminathan. At Virgo he oversees firm operations and portfolio management, and takes an active, hands-on role with the firm's investments. Collectively, Virgo's leadership is credited with facilitating exits and transformations exceeding a cumulative value of more than $400 million.

Before founding Virgo, Hemanth was Director of Corporate Development at TIBCO Software, where he led several strategic investments and completed three acquisitions. Earlier in his career, he worked in the High Technology Mergers & Acquisitions group at Goldman Sachs, advising clients across software, hardware, and online media on M&A transactions.

Hemanth earned a BS in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in software from Stanford University. He currently serves on the boards of several Virgo portfolio companies, including Aspire Tech, SurgeONE, KiteCyber, and Sayers, and has previously held board roles at companies such as RMG Networks/Korbyt and SirsiDynix.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests in established software and technology-enabled services companies rather than early-stage startups — targets are typically revenue-generating businesses (up to roughly $100M in revenue).
  • Looks for companies with strong customer relationships and deep domain expertise in their market niche.
  • Takes an active, operationally involved ownership approach, leveraging the team's experience in operations, finance, technology, sales & marketing, and M&A to drive value.
  • Pursues control-oriented deals — recapitalizations, buyouts, and platform investments — often as lead investor.
  • Sector concentration in enterprise software, tech-enabled services, digital signage/workplace communications, cybersecurity, healthcare IT, and RegTech.
