Background

Henri Tilloy is a Partner at Singular, a Paris-based early-stage European venture firm founded in 2019, which he joined in May 2023. He focuses on backing entrepreneurs building products for developers, DevOps, security, and broader technical teams. Singular closed a second fund of roughly €400 million, investing at seed and Series A across Europe.

Before Singular, Henri spent about two and a half years at Datadog (Nov 2020 – May 2023) as Senior Manager, Corporate Development, where he worked on the company's M&A and acquisitions — a hands-on operating vantage point on how a category-defining developer/observability company scales and buys. Prior to that he was on the Venture Investment Team at Partech, which he joined in the Paris office in June 2016 as an associate/Senior Associate before relocating to Silicon Valley. At Partech he participated in seed and Series A/B rounds in enterprise/infrastructure products and served as a board observer for several startups. (The stub "Senior Associate / Angel Investor at Partech" reflects that earlier chapter; his current role is Partner at Singular.)

Henri began his career on the technical side: he was a data scientist/data engineer at AdotMob, a Paris adtech startup (from ~2015), and worked as an engineer/business analyst at Orange Silicon Valley in San Francisco. This engineering background underpins his reputation among founders for genuinely understanding technical products rather than treating them purely as financial opportunities.

Academically, he holds a double degree from HEC Paris and Télécom Paris (Telecom ParisTech), studied data science as a graduate student at UC Berkeley (School of Information), and completed preparatory classes (classes préparatoires) at Lycée Stanislas.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests at seed and Series A in European technical/enterprise software; frequently leads rounds and takes a board seat or board-observer role.
  • Core themes: developer tools, DevOps, cybersecurity, and infrastructure — products built "for dev, DevOps, security and broader technical teams."
  • Values product simplicity and developer adoption: on Aikido, he praised its "incredibly unique approach to security" — "simple, leverage open-source, and easy to set up and use, yet Aikido ticks off the boxes of company compliance and security requirements in one go."
  • Likes products that deliver value with minimal friction: on Prelude he stressed "just a single line of code" to "cut costs, improve fraud protection, and increase conversion rates."
  • Increasingly active in AI-native categories (e.g., AI search / generative engine optimization) alongside his security/infra core.
  • Brings both an investor and operator lens (Partech VC + Datadog corp dev), and a strong US–Europe bridge from his Silicon Valley years.

Notable Investments

  • Aikido Security — Developer-first, open-source-leveraging security/compliance platform. Singular (Henri) led/co-led its $17M Series A (2024), roughly six months after a $5.3M seed.
  • Prelude — Paris-based phone/SMS verification and authentication API. Singular co-led an ~$8M round (Nov 2024) alongside Seedcamp; Henri joined the board.
  • Peec AI — Berlin-based AI-search / brand-visibility ("generative engine optimization") platform. Singular led its ~$21M / €18M Series A (Nov 2025); Henri joined the board.
  • Continuum Industries — Edinburgh-based AI-powered platform for designing linear/network infrastructure (energy transition). Singular led/participated in its Series A.
