Henry Ogbuagu

Henry Ogbuagu is a two-time founder, impact investor, and venture-talent builder whose career bridges technology, corporate innovation, and diversity in venture finance across the U.S. and Africa. He holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Global Development from the University of Derby and a Master's in International/Global Studies from Northeastern University in Boston (2015–2018). He began his professional career interning at the United Nations in 2016 during his graduate studies, and also worked as an Information Security Analyst at NBCUniversal Media before moving into finance and entrepreneurship.

As a Founding Partner and Program Director at VenCapital, Ogbuagu helps run an investor accelerator whose mission is to improve the pipeline of diverse emerging fund managers — providing women and minorities with entry-level experience in venture capital and private equity. He has led the program through multiple fellowship cohorts (its 5th class was announced in 2021, its 8th cohort in 2022, and Spring and Summer 2024 classes thereafter), partnering with venture firms and accelerators to place diverse talent into VC roles. Before this, he worked as an Analyst at Andorra, focused on impact investing and fund research.

Ogbuagu is also an active entrepreneur focused on Africa. He is the Founder & CEO of Wala Inc., an on-demand beauty and wellness service platform he launched after returning to Lagos in 2020 (following 13+ years abroad) and struggling to find salon services — Wala lets beauty professionals run on-demand salon businesses without a physical location or upfront capital. He additionally founded Nova Tech, which connects corporate leaders with innovative technology companies, and co-founded Innovate Nigeria, which facilitates collaboration between big tech, corporates, and startups to drive technology adoption in Nigeria. He has been a Global Shaper with the World Economic Forum and a mentor on the VC4A marketplace.
