Hernoen Rumero Gompel

Hernán Romero van Gompel is the founder of Brooklyn Incubator, an independent early-stage investment firm he established in New York in 2009. Brooklyn Incubator provides seed funding and startup assistance "in support of great ideas," pairing capital with advisory services drawn from Romero van Gompel's institutional finance background and global network. The firm is deliberately sector- and geography-agnostic, positioning itself around identifying exceptional founders rather than a fixed thesis.

Before founding Brooklyn Incubator, Romero van Gompel built more than a decade of experience across multiple asset classes. He worked as an investment professional in private equity at JPMorgan Partners (in both New York and London) and at Linzor Capital Partners, where he focused on middle-market buyouts and growth investments across Latin America. On the public side, he spent roughly three years at Altima Partners, a global emerging-markets hedge fund based in New York and London. He has also been associated with TIP México and is a member of New York Angels, NYC's leading seed-stage angel group.

Romero van Gompel holds a Master of International Affairs (MIA) in Finance and International Affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA, 1999–2000) and an undergraduate degree from Universidad de los Andes. He is currently also a co-founder and principal of Blueprint Capital Partners (Blueprint Investment LLC), a real-estate firm focused on acquiring, managing and developing multifamily residential properties primarily in New York and northern New Jersey, which he runs alongside Jon Robinson.
