Background

Indrek Kasela is an Estonian angel investor and venture investor best known as one of the founding partners of United Angels VC, alongside Riivo Anton and Gerri Kodres. United Angels VC states that, after the investment period of United Angels Fund I ended in 2022, new investments are made from Specialist VC Fund II. The United Angels Fund I portfolio includes Bolt, Starship, Click & Grow, Fractory, eAgronom, Xolo, FoodDocs, Salv, Bob W, Gridio, Outfunnel and KOOS.

Kasela’s background mixes law, capital markets, private equity and operating roles. PRFoods states that he holds an LL.M. from New York University, earned in 1996, and a law degree from the University of Tartu, earned in 1994. Nasdaq Baltic announced in April 2002 that he had been appointed Managing Director of HEX Tallinn, the operator group of the Tallinn Stock Exchange and Estonian CSD, after prior executive roles at Privador and Balti Cresco Investment Group.

He has also been an operator and public-company executive. PRFoods says he has served on its management board since February 2, 2015, and Nasdaq reported in December 2023 that PRFoods extended his management-board mandate until December 7, 2026. PRFoods describes the company as a fish farming and production group operating in Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Great Britain.

Kasela’s Creative Business Network profile describes him as an investor and angel at Amber Trust, with early involvement in Estonian venture activity and privatization advisory. In that profile he says he joined portfolio company Privador as founder and CEO, and that Privador and the Institute of Cybernetics helped introduce PKI, digital ID cards and digital signatures to Estonia. The same profile identifies him as an active angel investor with a portfolio including Plumbr, Digital Sputnik, Fleep, Teleport and Lingvist.
