James Keegan

James F. Keegan is a veteran institutional fixed-income investor who has worked in investment management since 1982. He joined Seix Investment Advisors in 2008 and served as its Chief Investment Officer (from March 1, 2008) and Chairman, with oversight of the firm's investment teams and direct portfolio-management responsibilities within the Investment Grade group. He also led the Seix Investment Policy Group, which sets firm-wide asset-allocation policy. Seix — founded in 1992 and headquartered in northern New Jersey — is a specialty fixed-income manager offering investment-grade and leveraged-finance capabilities to institutional clients, and operates as an affiliated manager of Virtus Investment Partners.

Before Seix, Keegan was Managing Director of High Grade and High Yield Fixed Income at UBS Global Asset Management, where he chaired the Investment Strategy and Credit Policy Committee and directly managed several highly ranked funds. Earlier, he was Head of Investment Grade Corporate & High Yield Bond Management at American Century Investments, responsible for portfolio management, strategy, credit research and trading in that division. Earlier still, he served as Director of Research and Chairman of the Credit Strategy Committee at Bankers Trust.

Keegan earned an MBA (Beta Gamma Sigma) from Fordham University and a B.S. in Business Management, magna cum laude, from St. Francis College. During his tenure he was a frequently quoted market commentator on U.S. Treasuries, credit and rates (e.g., Bloomberg TV appearances), and a named portfolio manager on multiple RidgeWorth/Virtus Seix bond funds in SEC filings. Bloomberg now lists him as Former Chairman/CIO of Seix, indicating he has since stepped back from the role.
