James Merkur

James Merkur is the founder and CEO of Logan Peak Capital, a Toronto-based firm he launched in 2015 to invest in and advise growth-oriented businesses. He brings more than 20 years of experience across investment banking and private equity. Before building his own investment platform, he held senior roles at a series of leading banks: he was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs (roughly 1996–2002), an Executive Director at CIBC World Markets (2003–2004), a Principal at Genuity Capital Markets (2005–2010), and later a Managing Director at Canaccord Genuity. His practice has centered on corporate finance and M&A, with a particular specialty in helping growth companies go public on the TSX and NASDAQ.

Alongside Logan Peak Capital, Merkur is President of Intercap Inc., a Toronto merchant bank with 25+ years of history that invests across industries with an emphasis on growth-oriented technology and consumer companies. He is also Vice Chairman of Brass Enterprises Inc., a real estate investment company focused on U.S. multifamily residential properties. These roles overlap heavily, giving him a combined operating footprint that spans direct investing, board governance, and advisory work.

Merkur is an active board member. He has served as an independent director of Docebo Inc. (TSX/NASDAQ: DCBO), the learning-management SaaS company, since around 2019, and has held or holds board seats at E Inc., Sharestates Inc., Plex Inc., Viafoura Inc., GuestLogix Inc., NYX Gaming Group Ltd., CryptoStar Corp., and the Canaccord Genuity Acquisition/Growth SPAC vehicles. This roster reflects his cross-sector reach across gaming, travel technology, fintech, media, and enterprise software.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and both a Juris Doctor (JD) and an MBA from the University of Toronto.
