Background

Jan-Moritz Hohn is the Founder and CEO of Leverest, a private capital markets technology company. Leverest says he founded the company in October 2020 after working as an investment professional at Avedon Capital Partners, where he was involved in corporate acquisitions and investments and regularly worked on complex financing structures.

Before founding Leverest, Hohn worked in private equity at Avedon Capital Partners. Avedon transaction materials list him as an Associate on the Hauck transaction in 2019 and as a contact on the SLF transaction in 2019. His own LinkedIn post says he left Avedon to start Leverest after working with management teams including SLF Spindel- und Lagerungstechnik Fraureuth GmbH and Hauck Group.

Earlier in his career, Hohn started in strategy consulting at OC&C, now EY-Parthenon, advising private equity firms on commercial due diligence. Conference biography materials say he holds a Master’s degree cum laude in International Business from Maastricht University.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Hohn’s current public profile is primarily founder/operator rather than a disclosed active angel-investor profile; I found no verified public check-size or personal angel-investment mandate.
  • His work at Leverest is centered on reducing friction in debt financing for private capital markets. In a 2023 interview, he said he saw “huge potential for improvement” after watching manual financing processes lead to inefficient outcomes.
  • Leverest serves acquisition financing, leveraged buyout financing, add-on transactions, refinancings, lender outreach, due diligence, Q&A, term negotiation, and documentation workflows.
  • The platform’s stated user base includes private equity funds, industrial holding companies, family offices, banks, private debt funds, lawyers, and debt advisors.
  • Hohn has publicly emphasized private debt as a long-term trend, saying in 2023 that Leverest sees an “unbroken trend towards private debt as an asset class.”
  • Avedon’s publicly stated investment focus during his tenure was lower mid-market private equity in Germany and the Benelux, targeting niches in Software & Technology, Business Services, Industry & Engineering, and Consumer Products & Leisure.

Notable Investments

  • Spindel- und Lagerungstechnik Fraureuth GmbH (SLF): Avedon acquired a stake in the German specialist spindles and ball bearings manufacturer in 2019; Hohn was listed as an Avedon Associate contact, and later said he worked with SLF’s management team on its growth path.
  • Hauck Group: Avedon acquired a shareholding in the European nursery products brand in 2019 to support international growth; Hohn was listed as an Associate on the Avedon deal team.
  • Leverest: Founded by Hohn in October 2020; the company raised a seven-figure seed round in March 2022 from BMH and angel investors, then announced a multi-million funding round in January 2025 to support U.S. expansion and AI/software development.
