Background

Jarosław Dąbrowski (born 11 October 1964 in Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą) is a veteran Polish banker and financier with more than three decades in the sector. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw, holds an MBA from the University of Brussels and University of Warsaw, and completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at IESE Business School (University of Navarra). Early in his career he held a Know-How Fund scholarship (a UK program established under Margaret Thatcher) and trained at the Edinburgh University Business School.

His executive career spans the leadership of several major banks and funds. He was President of NFI Progress (1995–1997), a board member and later Vice-President of Raiffeisen Bank Polska (1997–2004) responsible for corporate and investment banking, the SME segment, leasing and factoring, and then President of NORD/LB Polska / DnB NORD Polska and of Bank Inicjatyw Społeczno-Ekonomicznych (BISE) in the mid-to-late 2000s. He briefly served as Vice-President / acting President of SGB-Bank in 2018.

In 2013 he founded DF Capital Dom Maklerski (a licensed brokerage), and from 2019 led DF Capital & Management (DFCM), a Warsaw-based boutique focused on cross-border M&A, strategic consulting, debt and mezzanine financing, and advisory to private equity and venture capital funds — particularly in financial services, fintech, insurtech and eCommerce across the CEE region. He has also sat on the boards/supervisory boards of MCI Capital, ABC Data, Nest Bank (Polish Bank for Entrepreneurship), and Michael/Ström Dom Maklerski.

In February 2024 he was appointed to the Supervisory Board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK), Poland's state development bank, and in August 2024 joined its Management Board, where he oversees international cooperation, regional policy and capital investments. In this role he is associated with the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund and the Three Seas Innovation/Infrastructure funds, and he sits on the board of the European Long-Term Investors Association (ELTI).

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Operates at the M&A advisory and institutional-capital level, not as a writer of small angel/seed checks; DFCM advises on buy-side and sell-side M&A, capital raising, and debt/mezzanine/equity financing.
  • Sector conviction in financial services, banking, insurance/insurtech, fintech, factoring and eCommerce, with a stated interest in "combining traditional services with new technologies and the fintech sector."
  • Strong CEE / Central & Eastern Europe focus while acting globally, leveraging relationships with banks, PE/VC funds, consultancies and NGOs across the EU, East Asia and the USA.
  • DFCM's published research signals interest in fintech themes including neo-banks, insurtech disruption, AI/machine learning in venture capital, crypto, and robotics/automation.
  • Through BGK, now allocates and supervises institutional and development capital — regional policy, capital investments, and multinational infrastructure/innovation funds (e.g., Three Seas Initiative).

Notable Investments

  • Netrisk (Hungary) — As advisor to MCI.EuroVentures, supported the partial exit of MCI's stake to TA Associates for ~EUR 55M (Jan 2020), reportedly delivering 3.0x cash-on-cash and 73% IRR.
  • Punkta (Poland) — Linked to the 2021 acquisition of the Polish motor/personal-lines insurance comparison platform by BIK (Pollen Street Capital).
  • SMEO (Poland) — Polish factoring/fintech company that raised 21M+ PLN from Finch Capital (Netherlands) and Precapital (2021).
  • MCI Capital — Served on the board (2013–2015) of the listed Polish private equity / venture capital group.
  • Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund — Associated since 2025 via his BGK role, a multinational infrastructure investment vehicle.
