Background

Jason Granger is a Grand Rapids, Michigan–based finance executive who leads investment activity for the Granger Group family office. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Ferris State University and began his career in banking as a Commercial Loan Credit and IT Systems Analyst at Independent Bank. He left the banking industry in 2007 to join the Granger Group, where he became involved in the development of Metro Health Village and took on responsibility for the family's major investment initiatives.

At the Granger Group he served as Senior Vice President of Operations and Director of Development, overseeing advisory resources, finance, accounting, marketing, HR, IT, and security functions. One of his most notable transactions was structuring a joint-venture partnership with insurance firm AIG that secured a roughly $405 million equity commitment toward an approximately $2 billion real estate development and operations platform — a deal that reflects his focus on hard-asset, operating-company investing rather than early, high-risk venture bets.

Granger is Chairman and CEO of Intellisys Capital LLC, the Grand Rapids–based entity that in 2016–2017 launched Mainstreet Investment LP, a Cayman Islands limited partnership, in a widely covered partnership with early Bitcoin figure Charlie Shrem. Mainstreet was one of the earliest attempts to tokenize a private-equity fund: it planned to raise capital through an Ethereum-based token (the "MIT," or Mainstreet Investment Token) and distribute quarterly dividends on-chain. The structure placed Intellisys Capital as the ~70% controlling company over the ~30% Mainstreet Investment LP vehicle. The initial token offering was announced for early 2017 (with the launch postponed from January to February 2017) and worked with Vanbex on development and Cooley on legal/regulatory counsel.

More recently, Granger has directed the Granger family office's expansion into healthcare. In 2023, a Granger-affiliated entity (Granger Health / TracPatch Health, LLC) acquired the assets of Sacramento-based TracPatch Health Inc., maker of a wearable sensor device that remotely monitors patient recovery after orthopedic knee surgery — described as the family office's first dedicated health-care investment.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Prefers established, profitable, hard-asset-backed businesses over high-risk startups: the Intellisys/Mainstreet fund was explicitly designed to target "middle market, U.S.-based companies," real estate, and (secondarily) blockchain projects, and to "initially avoid high-risk startups."
  • Emphasizes liquidity and transparency in private investing — the Mainstreet vision was to create "a liquid and tradable investment opportunity" as an alternative to traditional closed-end private-equity funds that lock up capital for years, combining "the immutability of a blockchain and the backing of hard assets."
  • Comfortable with large, structured, control-oriented deals (e.g., the AIG real estate JV; asset acquisitions of operating companies) and with multi-sector deployment spanning real estate, healthcare/medical devices, and fintech/blockchain.
  • On his own words about the blockchain venture: *"We are breaking new ground and must ensure that we not only host a successful launch, but that the fund conforms to international legal and regulatory standards."*

Notable Investments

  • Mainstreet Investment LP / Intellisys Capital (2016–2017) — Tokenized private-equity fund (MIT token on Ethereum) targeting U.S. middle-market companies and real estate; co-launched with Charlie Shrem.
  • TracPatch Health, LLC (2023) — Granger-affiliated family office acquired the assets of Sacramento-based TracPatch Health Inc., a remote-monitoring wearable for post-operative orthopedic (knee surgery) recovery; cited as the family office's first health-care deal.
  • Metro Health Village (Granger Group) — Mixed-use development in the Grand Rapids area that he helped advance after joining the family office in 2007.
  • AIG real estate joint venture — Structured a ~$405M equity commitment toward a ~$2B real estate development and operations platform.
