Background

Jason Charles Kelly is a career insurance underwriter at AIG, where he serves as Chief Underwriting Officer for Global Financial Lines and Head of International Financial Lines. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point (1996–1999) and joined AIG in New York in 1999.

Over roughly two decades at AIG, Kelly has worked across multiple Financial Lines portfolios and geographies. Early in his career he managed the technology D&O portfolio out of AIG's San Francisco office, then moved into International D&O based in London. In 2009 he relocated to Asia, where he became Head of Liabilities & Financial Lines for Greater China, Australasia and South Korea, overseeing D&O, financial institutions, cyber liability, professional indemnity, and casualty lines across the region.

He is widely cited as a subject-matter expert and speaker on the Financial Lines portfolio, frequently providing commentary on trending exposures such as cyber risk, the Internet of Things, and directors' and officers' liability in Asia. In his current role his remit spans AIG's Financial Lines business outside North America, having brought together underwriting knowledge from developed markets in the US, Europe, developed Asia, and Australia/New Zealand.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Not a venture/angel investor. No public evidence of personal angel investing, fund affiliation, seed-stage checks, or a startup portfolio was found. The "Angel Investors / Seed Round" labeling in the source stub appears to be a data error.
  • His professional "thesis" is an insurance underwriting one: assessing and pricing corporate liability exposure — particularly D&O, cyber, and financial-institutions risk — for multinational and large corporate clients operating internationally.
  • He has publicly emphasized the growth of cyber and D&O coverage demand in Asia, noting (2017) that "a lot of companies outside of Asia have already bought this coverage," framing the region as catching up to developed markets.

Notable Investments

  • No portfolio company investments or venture/angel deals could be found in any public source. This section is intentionally left without fabricated entries.
