Javier Cosme

Javier Cosme joined Investar Financial Corporation in 2017 as Principal of Business Development. Within the firm's venture-capital activity he leads the value-creation plan — sourcing business projects and assets intended to increase current cash flow and add upside to Investar's operating businesses — and is responsible for creating, developing, and managing a new capital-markets fund.

Before Investar, Cosme spent roughly 18 years in institutional investment banking, serving as Director and Managing Director at leading banks including Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, and Standard Chartered Bank across New York and London. His banking work concentrated on global-markets trading, portfolio management, advisory, and wealth management.

He holds a Master of Science in Investment Banking from the ICMA Centre at the University of Reading (UK) and a BA in Economics with a finance specialization from ITAM University in Mexico. He also holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 24 licenses and a state insurance license.

Investar itself is a family-owned private holding company based in the Dallas–Irving, Texas area, investing across operating companies, private equity, active equity, real estate, a deep-value fund, and an early-stage "Digital Lab." Its strategy centers on the U.S. Hispanic market and U.S.–Latin America corridors, with a long-term, cash-flow-oriented horizon.
