Background
Jayme Kwek is a Singapore-based venture and growth-stage investor. He earned a BSc in Economics and Finance from Singapore Management University (2013–2017). He began his career in investment banking, serving as an analyst in Deutsche Bank's investment banking division in Singapore and subsequently as an analyst at Credit Suisse's investment banking division, where he advised clients in the Consumer, Retail, and Healthcare sectors across Southeast Asia.
He moved into venture capital in January 2020, joining B Capital Group (the global firm co-founded by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, whose corporate domain is bcapgroup.com — the source of the [hidden] address in the stub data). On B Capital's Singapore investment team, he focused on market screening, deal evaluation, and execution, and worked directly with the firm's portfolio companies. He was recognized in a promotion cohort announced by B Capital alongside colleagues Dhruv Jain and Rajan Sharma.
Around 2022 he moved to Prosus Ventures (the venture arm of Prosus / Naspers, one of the world's largest consumer-internet investors), where he is a Principal covering SE Asia and ANZ investments. In that role he sources and executes deals in consumer internet, mobility, retail, and healthcare across those regions, working alongside Prosus investors such as Sandeep Bakshi, Ting-Ting Liu, and Martin Tschopp.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests primarily in technology-enabled consumer and services businesses in Southeast Asia and Australia/New Zealand, the regions he covers for Prosus Ventures.
- Core sectors: consumer internet, transportation/mobility tech, retail, and healthcare (health services + health IT) — an extension of the Consumer/Retail/Healthcare coverage he built in banking and at B Capital.
- At Prosus, tends toward growth-stage rounds (Series B focus) with larger institutional checks (reported ~$25M–$60M), reflecting Prosus's balance-sheet-backed model.
- Data-provider profiles (PitchBook, Signal) also list early-stage / angel-type activity, so he may engage with earlier seed-stage companies opportunistically.
- Background as a banker to consumer, retail, and healthcare clients means he evaluates companies with a strong lens on unit economics, market structure, and regional expansion.
Notable Investments
- Carro — Southeast Asian used-car marketplace and automotive platform; a B Capital portfolio company (reached unicorn status).
- Bird — U.S.-based electric scooter / micromobility company; listed among his associated investments.
- Notable Labs — U.S. drug-discovery / precision-oncology company; listed among his associated investments.
