Background

Jean-Michel Beghin is a Founding Partner and Managing Partner of Keensight Capital, a European growth-buyout private equity firm he co-founded and helped spin out of the Rothschild group. He brings more than 20 years of private equity investing experience. Before Keensight, he spent roughly ten years with the Rothschild group as a Managing Partner of R Capital Management, the group's investment arm dedicated to growth companies. Keensight Capital was created when R Capital Management's Managing Partners acquired the Rothschild Group's stake in the business, establishing an independent firm.

Earlier in his career, Beghin began investing at Natixis, one of the pioneers of private equity in Europe, and before that worked at Ernst & Young in management consulting and corporate finance. He also has a hands-on operational background, having held engineering and management roles at both small and large technology companies in Silicon Valley — experience he cites as informing Keensight's operationally-minded partnership approach with founders.

He holds an engineering degree from Santa Clara University (SCU) and an MBA from Georgetown University. Today he is one of the most senior figures at Keensight, which as of the end of 2025 managed more than €8bn in assets, had generated a track record of roughly 39% IRR across 51 exited investments, and maintained offices in Paris, London, Boston and Singapore.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through Keensight's Growth Buyout strategy — backing already profitable, fast-growing companies, not early-stage or seed startups.
  • Targets Technology and Healthcare businesses in Europe: software/SaaS, cybersecurity, IT services, digital health, health tech, life sciences and biologics manufacturing (CDMOs).
  • Looks for companies with revenues of ~€10m–€400m, proven business models, and organic growth typically above 10% per year.
  • Provides capital plus strategic and operational support, partnering closely with existing management teams rather than replacing them.
  • In his own words: *"As a leader in European Growth Buyout investing, our experience shows us all companies need financing that is tailored to their needs, and this has proven to be successful over 20 years."*
  • Emphasizes durable, capital-efficient growth over hype — Keensight's stated edge is deep sector specialization in tech and healthcare combined with a long, disciplined track record.

Notable Investments

  • Advancis Software & Services — security management software company; Keensight partnership announced November 2024.
  • Bedfont Scientific — medical device / breath-analysis diagnostics manufacturer; acquired October 2025.
  • 3PBIOVIAN — created by combining Biovian and 3P Biopharmaceuticals, two leading biologics CDMOs, into an end-to-end development and manufacturing group (protein expression systems and viral vectors).
  • I-Tracing — European cybersecurity services leader; exited June 2024, part of a series of exits that returned ~€600m to investors.
  • Broader Keensight portfolio spans European software, SaaS, IT-services and healthcare companies; the firm reports 51 exited investments with an aggregate ~39% IRR track record.
