Jeffery Bistrong

Jeffery ("Jeff") Bistrong is a veteran technology investment banker and private-equity investor with more than 30 years in Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) M&A, private equity, and corporate governance. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from Colby College and holds dual M.B.A./M.A. degrees from the University of Michigan. Early in his career he held M&A banking roles at firms including Tucker Anthony, Robertson Stephens, and BancBoston.

Bistrong is best known for his long tenure at Harris Williams, the middle-market M&A advisory firm, where he worked from 2002 to 2019. In 2006 he founded the firm's Technology, Media & Telecom Group, building and leading it as Managing Director and Group Head across offices in Boston, San Francisco, and London. Over roughly 17–18 years there he personally advised 100+ technology companies and private equity firms on M&A transactions, helping establish Harris Williams as a leading middle-market investment bank.

In April 2020 he moved to the buy side, joining Indianapolis-based middle-market private equity firm HKW, Inc. as a Partner and member of its Investment and Exit committees — the role associated with his hkwinc.com contact details. At HKW he led the firm's push into technology investing, evaluating and partnering with software and tech-enabled companies (generally those with $10M+ in recurring revenue across the U.S. and Canada) and serving on the boards of portfolio companies such as government software-and-services provider Civix and healthcare/well-being software company Kumanu.

In April 2022 Bistrong returned to advisory work, joining Guggenheim Securities, LLC as a Senior Managing Director in its Technology Investment Banking practice, based in Boston, focused on advising software and software-related technology companies. More recently he has positioned himself as an Independent Board Director and Strategic Advisor, including a board seat at Mt. Rainier Acquisition Corp.
