Background

Jeffrey "TJ" Heyman founded Woodbourne in 2000 in Boulder, Colorado, and serves as its Chief Investment Officer and an Investment Committee member. Over a real estate career spanning more than 30 years, he has acquired, managed, repositioned, and developed over 40,000 multi-residential units across the United States and Canada. He began his career at Bain and Company in 1981 and moved into real estate private equity in the late 1980s through firms including Piedmont Realty Advisors and Trammell Crow Ventures.

In the early 1990s, Heyman developed mobile home parks and acquired dealerships, and in 1993 he co-founded WillMax Capital Inc. He went on to co-found HomesUSA, which became, at its 1997 NYSE IPO, the largest independent retailer of manufactured housing in the United States. He also managed a global real estate securities hedge fund for eight years, with offices in London, Hong Kong, and Colorado. In 2007 he formed Woodbourne's first Canadian real estate vehicle, after the firm expanded into Canada around 2003.

Heyman earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Economics, with Distinction, from Stanford University.

Today Woodbourne describes itself as a real estate investment firm specializing in newly built, high-quality, amenitized residential rental properties, with a 20+ year operating history, 110+ transactions, and 40+ employees. Woodbourne Capital Management International LP is SEC-registered; one aggregator lists its assets under management at roughly $618 million.
