Background
Jeffrey Keswin is a New York–based investor best known as a co-founder of the hedge fund Greenlight Capital and, more recently, as the founder of the cybersecurity-focused venture firm Lytical Ventures. He graduated summa cum laude in 1990 from the University of Pennsylvania's Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology (M&T), earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School and a Bachelor of Applied Science from Penn's School of Engineering. He remains active with his alma mater, serving on the boards of both Wharton and the M&T Program.
Early in his career Keswin worked at Siegler, Collery & Co., where he met David Einhorn. In May 1996 the two launched Greenlight Capital with roughly $900,000 of initial capital; Keswin served as the firm's business/marketing partner and co-president while Einhorn ran the portfolio. He later left Greenlight and, in 2004, founded Lyrical Partners. In 2008 he and Andrew Wellington formed Lyrical Asset Management as 50/50 partners. Today Lyrical Partners and its affiliates invest in and manage more than $10 billion across private equity, real estate, traditional long-only equity, venture, and hedge fund strategies.
In September 2018, Lyrical Partners announced the formation of Lytical Ventures, an early-stage venture firm dedicated to "Corporate Intelligence" — cybersecurity, big data, and artificial intelligence. Keswin is the firm's founder and chairman, heads its investment committee, and is its anchor investor, with Lyrical Partners anchoring the fund. The debut vehicle was structured as a ~$60 million fund. Keswin's role gives Lytical unusually deep institutional backing for an emerging manager, while day-to-day sourcing and diligence are led by operating partners such as Lucas Nelson.
Outside of investing, Keswin is also a part-owner of a Major League Pickleball expansion franchise based in Palm Beach.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests exclusively in "Corporate Intelligence" — the convergence of cybersecurity, data/analytics, and AI for the enterprise. Keswin has framed the opportunity around corporations generating enormous volumes of data daily and needing to store, secure, and analyze it: "an explosive growth opportunity."
- Stage: Seed through Series A; check sizes roughly $100K–$5M. Lytical generally does not lead rounds.
- Sectors: cybersecurity, AI, data infrastructure, enterprise and SaaS.
- Geography: primarily U.S.-based companies.
- Values operator-led teams — Lytical's partners are former operators who engage directly with portfolio companies, so technical founders solving real enterprise security/data problems fit the model.
- Notably passes pro-rata follow-on rights through to LPs rather than reserving heavily for internal follow-ons — a structural signal that the fund concentrates on first-check, thesis-driven entries.
Notable Investments
- MontyCloud — autonomous cloud operations / AIOps platform; recent follow-on investment.
- Truffle Security — open-source secrets detection (TruffleHog) and security tooling.

- Cynomi — AI-driven virtual CISO platform that assesses cyber posture and automates remediation.
