Background
Jeffrey (Jeff) Nahley is a Nashville-based investment banker and investor with more than 30 years in investment banking, corporate finance, and direct equity investing across New York and Nashville. He began his career at Bankers Trust in New York (1986–1993), working on structured financings and M&A. He holds a BA from Middlebury College and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
In 2001 he co-founded Avondale Partners, a Nashville-based investment bank, where he served as a founder, board member, and Head of the Investment Banking Group through 2009 — leading a practice of 20-plus professionals across Nashville, Philadelphia, and San Diego that oversaw roughly 120 transactions exceeding $11 billion in value. From 2009 to 2018 he was a Managing Director and Partner at boutique M&A firm Signal Hill Capital, where he ran the Services investment banking practice (the firm was acquired by Daiwa Securities in 2017).
In April 2018, Nahley launched GlassRock Capital Partners, a dual-strategy investment vehicle that provides early-stage growth equity and later-stage buyout capital to private U.S. companies. As founder and CEO, he directed the firm's platform investing across healthcare services and software/technology, completing four private-equity platform investments spanning behavioral health, neurological care, primary care, and robotics.
From 2019 to 2025 he served as Head of Middle Market Healthcare Services Investment Banking for BofA Securities (Bank of America Merrill Lynch), where he completed more than $9 billion of healthcare-services M&A, equity, and debt capital-markets transactions. Across his career he has personally completed more than $16 billion of public offerings, private placements, and M&A. He has since moved to Rockefeller Capital Management, and he serves on the board of ACG Tennessee.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Pursues a dual strategy — "early stage growth equity and later stage buyout capital funding to private companies throughout the U.S."
- Frames its approach as "Fundamental Foundational Investing + Strategic Growth," emphasizing platform investment opportunities that can be scaled.
- Invests across four core segments: Healthcare & HCIT, Software & Technology, Business & Financial Services, and Consumer & Industrial — with the deepest conviction in healthcare services, reflecting Nahley's banking background and Nashville's healthcare cluster.
- Takes both minority (non-control) growth positions and majority junior capital for recapitalizations and owner-liquidity events, giving flexibility on structure.
- Deep operator/banker DNA: values proven unit economics and defensible "foundational" businesses over speculative bets, consistent with a 30-year M&A career.
