Background
Jeff Webb is a Managing Principal at Industrial Growth Partners (IGP), a San Francisco–based specialist private equity partnership founded in 1997 that invests exclusively in middle-market industrial businesses. He joined the firm in 2003 and has more than two decades of experience across private and public equity investing, concentrated on manufacturing and industrial-service companies. Alongside the other Managing Principals, he shares responsibility for firm management and the full investment process — sourcing, evaluating, and executing new platform investments, monitoring existing holdings, and managing divestitures.
Before IGP, Webb worked at Ridge Capital Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm focused on platform build-ups and growth investments in the lower middle market. Earlier in his career he was in the Equity Research Department of William Blair & Company, a Chicago investment bank, and worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C.
Webb earned an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.A. with Distinction in Economics from Cornell University. He has served on the boards of numerous IGP portfolio companies, including API Heat Transfer, ASPEQ Heating Group, Brown Machine Group, Controls Southeast, Des-Case, Grakon, Ideal Tridon, Integrated Polymer Solutions, Microporous Products, O'Brien, Process Insights, SENS, and TASI Group.
IGP has raised approximately $3.4 billion in equity capital across six funds and has invested alongside management teams in more than forty platform transactions since inception.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests exclusively in middle-market industrial businesses in the U.S. and Canada — niche manufacturers, value-added distributors, and critical industrial-services companies.
- Targets companies with up to ~$250M revenue and ~$40M EBITDA that hold defensible, market-leading positions in their niches and have a track record of profitability.
- Pursues control transactions: management buyouts, leveraged buyouts, corporate divestitures, recapitalizations, management buy-ins, and growth capital financings — partnering with existing management ("invested alongside management").
- Concentrates on a defined set of industrial sub-sectors: industrial components/equipment, electrical and electronic equipment, process instrumentation and controls, analytical/measuring instruments, filtration and pumps, specialty chemicals, plastics, and healthcare/safety equipment.
- Note: This is a buyout/growth-equity mandate. Despite the "angel / seed" framing in the source stub, neither Webb nor IGP invests at the seed or angel stage.
