Jens Hansen

Jens Thøger Hansen has more than 30 years' experience developing small and medium-sized Danish companies. He trained as an engineer, holding a Civilingeniør (M.Sc. Engineering) degree from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and a graduate diploma in finance (HD Finance) from Copenhagen Business School (CBS). He began his career in investment banking at Danske Bank and then in Corporate Finance at EY (Senior Manager, mid-1990s).

He subsequently moved into operating roles in Danish industry, including business development and executive positions associated with Skjern Papirfabrik and Brdr. Hartmann, and was part of the management team that carried out a reconstruction of the listed company SIS International in the mid-2000s. This combination of investment-banking, M&A and hands-on operational leadership underpins his later private-equity career.

In 2006 Hansen co-founded Capidea, a Danish private-equity fund making long-term investments in competitive small and medium-sized Danish companies (roughly DKK 1.5bn / EUR 200m committed across its funds). As a founding partner (2006–2022) he was responsible for investment and value creation in several portfolio companies. When Capidea raised its fourth fund he stepped back from the partnership to focus on being an active investor; since 2024 he has sat on Capidea's Advisory Board and on the advisory board of the venture fund North Ventures.

Since 2024 he has also been a Partner at Executive Capital, a Danish firm focused on smaller and medium-sized companies (generational transitions, internationalization, business development and M&A), joining alongside a group of new partners. He invests and holds board seats personally through his company JTH ApS.

• Focus on generational transition (ownership succession), internationalization, business development and M&A — buying or backing established companies and professionalizing them for a growth step-change.
• At Capidea the mandate targeted profitable SMEs (typically EBITDA ~DKK 15–75m); Executive Capital similarly concentrates on the lower-mid-market.
• Adds value as an active, hands-on investor and board member (chairman, vice-chairman or non-executive director) rather than a passive check-writer.
• Broader early-stage exposure to tech-driven companies (AI, HealthTech, FinTech, DeepTech; Seed–Series A) through his advisory role at North Ventures.
