Background

Jesper Theill Eriksen trained as a lawyer, earning a law degree from the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet), before moving into the telecommunications industry during Europe's mobile "land grab" era. In that period he was involved in bidding for mobile licenses and setting up greenfield telecom operations across Europe, and he went on to serve as CEO and supervisory-board member of telecom companies in several countries. That operating background — running large, multi-brand enterprises — later shaped his investing focus on tools that help big organizations manage content and governance.

In recent years he has dedicated most of his time to the Software-as-a-Service startup scene as an investor, advisor, and board member. His most consequential bet is Templafy, the Copenhagen-founded document-generation and content-enablement platform (founded by Christian Lund and Henrik Valentin Printzlau). Eriksen came in as an early private investor and served roughly three years as chairman of Templafy's supervisory board before stepping in as CEO in January 2017. He has led the company through its scale-up and international expansion, including its move to dual Copenhagen/New York headquarters.

He says he joined Templafy as an investor because he had personally felt the pain the company solves — disconnected, off-brand business documents — while running large enterprises himself. As CEO he advocates building on top of established platforms (e.g., leveraging Microsoft's ecosystem and AI) rather than reinventing infrastructure, and he targets large global organizations that need centralized brand control to protect reputation and shareholder value.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests personal capital as an angel at the seed/early-venture stage, typically taking an active board or advisory role rather than a passive position.
  • Concentrates on B2B software: business/productivity software, fintech, and content technology — sectors adjacent to his own enterprise and SaaS operating experience.
  • Backs problems he has personally experienced as an operator; on Templafy he describes investing because he lived the document/brand-governance problem while leading large companies.
  • Operating philosophy that carries into how he engages portfolio companies: he describes his approach in one word — "together" — and lives by "be happy at work or stay home," signaling a collaborative, hands-on style.
  • Favors companies that build on top of proven platforms (his stated technology view: leverage existing successful systems like Microsoft's rather than building proprietary algorithms from scratch).

Notable Investments

  • Templafy — Document-generation / content-enablement SaaS; early private investor (participated in a ~€1.5M venture round, Nov 2015, alongside SEED Capital, Sunstone Capital, and Preben Damgaard), former supervisory-board chairman, and CEO since January 2017.
  • CrediWire — Financial-software / fintech startup; angel investor and board member.
  • Certainly (formerly BotXO) — Conversational-AI / chatbot platform in business productivity software; board member.
  • Snafu — Company in the movies, music and entertainment sector; listed among his angel investments.
