Background
Jessie Jin is a Managing Partner at V Star Capital, a Shanghai-based venture capital firm that manages multiple RMB-denominated funds. V Star Capital originated as the RMB fund operation associated with GGV Capital before being established as a standalone firm; it invests across healthcare, intelligent technology, consumption upgrade, and TMT, concentrating on early-stage and expansion-stage deals in China. The firm is headquartered in the Xuhui District of Shanghai.
Jin's investing career spans roughly three decades in Chinese finance and venture capital. She joined GGV Capital in 2008 as a Managing Partner and was named among the additional partners on the RMB portion of GGV's Fund IV (closed 2012). Earlier, she was a founding partner of SIG Capital Partners, an investment management and advisory firm in China that managed the Venture Star vehicle. From 2002 to 2005 she served as Vice President at Vertex China Investment, the China arm of the Singapore-based venture firm Vertex.
Before moving into venture capital, Jin worked from 1995 to 2002 with Shanghai Industrial Holdings Limited (HKSE: 363), where she first helped arrange the company's Hong Kong listing and then led its Strategic Investment Department, completing more than 20 direct investments across China. From 1992 to 1994 she was a member of the International Division of Shanghai International Securities, at the time the largest securities firm in China.
Jin holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Management from Fudan University in Shanghai.

- Firm strategy spans early-stage and expansion-stage investing; databases most frequently classify its activity around Series B rounds.
- Strong healthcare/medical-devices orientation, reflected in flagship holdings such as United Imaging Healthcare and Mindray.
- Personally active as an angel/seed investor, with reported individual check sizes in the ~$10K–$50K range (sweet spot ~$25K) — a smaller, early-conviction posture distinct from the firm's fund deployments.
- Long track record of direct/strategic investing in China (20+ deals at Shanghai Industrial Holdings), suggesting a hands-on, fundamentals-driven approach.
