Background

Jill Raderstorf built her career in banking and risk before moving into venture investing. She began as a Risk Management Examiner at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), spending roughly six years (c. 2008–2014) leading examinations of banks ranging from $100 million to more than $1 billion in assets. She then moved to the private sector as a Senior Underwriter at J.P. Morgan Private Bank (c. 2014–2016), where she managed a multi-billion-dollar consumer loan portfolio collateralized by assets such as hedge fund positions and fine art.

From approximately 2017 to 2020 she served as a Partner at the Ohio Innovation Fund (OIF), a Columbus-based venture firm whose mission is to "enable early-stage Ohio companies to grow and prosper" and to help retain top talent in the state. In that role she sourced new investments across the region and worked alongside portfolio companies to accelerate growth, including taking board seats. In 2019 she was named a Columbus Business First "40 Under 40" honoree.

Since leaving OIF, Raderstorf has moved away from venture investing and into financial services and wealth planning: Head of Financial Products at Provide, Inc. (2022–2023), Associate Financial Advisor at Hamilton Capital (2024–2025), and — as of 2025 — Financial Planner at Aptus Financial in Columbus, where she holds a Series 65 / Investment Advisor Representative registration. Founders should note that she is no longer actively deploying capital through the Ohio Innovation Fund, so the OIF contact details above reflect her prior role rather than a current active mandate.

She earned a BSBA (magna cum laude) in Economics and Spanish from Creighton University and an MBA in Finance and Leadership from The Ohio State University.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invested at the seed and Series A / early stage, with the OIF fund writing checks in the roughly $500K–$4M range.
  • Focused geographically on Ohio and the Midwest, backing companies she described as "capable of disrupting markets in Ohio and throughout the Midwest."
  • Sector-agnostic within tech and life sciences, spanning medtech, biopharma, healthcare, SaaS, AI/ML, data science, cybersecurity, AR/VR, advanced manufacturing, and mobility.
  • Valued a demonstrated growth track record — she praised EmployStream for "a track record of impressive growth over the last few years" as a reason for investing.
  • Hands-on investor who took board seats and worked directly with portfolio companies to accelerate growth, reflecting her risk/underwriting discipline from FDIC and J.P. Morgan.

Notable Investments

  • EmployStream — HR/recruiting automation software; OIF backed its $3.5M Series A (March 2019) led by JumpStart Inc. (with Rev1 Ventures and North Coast Angel Fund). Raderstorf personally joined EmployStream's board of directors as part of the round.
