Jimmy Lee

Jimmy Lee is a Sydney-based software entrepreneur and technologist with roughly 15 years building software products and companies. He describes his early career as a junior developer building tools for internet service providers "to help people get online, back in the ADSL days and later the 3G dongle days." He attended the University of New South Wales (UNSW) around 2003–2005 and worked at Fairfax Media and a company called Emotum before moving into founding roles. His technical background is in software engineering (C#, OOP, agile/Scrum development).

Lee first came to prominence as CEO of Cammy, an Australian startup founded around 2014 that built an app-based, Wi-Fi home and small-business security system — plug-in cloud-connected cameras with motion detection viewable via web and mobile apps, marketed as a Wi-Fi home security system "with no false alarms." Cammy was backed by serial entrepreneur Christian Beck (founder of LEAP Legal Software and InfoTrack), and its inspiration was linked publicly to improving surveillance and police-response times in the wake of the 2012 Jill Meagher case in Melbourne. In interviews Lee discussed the hard engineering behind the product — cameras' sensitivity to changing light and the need to auto-adjust to environmental changes — and Cammy's automated setup that cut camera configuration from about an hour to roughly ten minutes.

The Cammy team of engineers evolved into Nirovision, which Lee co-founded and led as CEO (roughly 2016–2024). Nirovision pivoted the group's B2C security-camera expertise into a B2B AI identity-recognition and facial-recognition platform for visitor management, time-and-attendance, and site safety/compliance — used to identify people and vehicles at a premises, automate doors/turnstiles/boom gates, cross-check compliance, and alert managers to anomalies. The company was headquartered in Sydney with a U.S. presence (Las Vegas and New York) and joined the Security Industry Association as a member. In 2024, Nirovision merged with / was acquired by Rapid Global, an Australian workforce-management and safety-compliance software provider, where Lee became CEO.
