Jochen Mr Butz

Jochen Butz is a Managing Director of HQ Trust GmbH, the multi-family office of the Harald Quandt family, headquartered in Bad Homburg near Frankfurt. He heads the firm's Alternative Investments division, which spans private equity, private debt, real estate, infrastructure and hedge funds, and he has been described as having roughly 27–30 years of experience across the financial industry. He holds a degree in business administration (Betriebswirt).

His career began in financial services at Merz + Co., after which he served as Head of Treasury at DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (the German air-navigation-services company). He then joined Sauerborn Trust, where he led the private equity department. When that business transitioned into UBS, he continued in the same role as an Executive Director within the UBS Sauerborn division of UBS Deutschland — the source of the historical UBS association reflected in the stub email.

Butz joined HQ Trust in 2011 as a senior client advisor and Managing Partner overseeing alternative investments. In the firm's 2019 management restructuring — during which longtime CIO/Managing Director Reinhard Panse and Managing Directors Hanna Cimen and Adalbert von Uckermann departed (Panse and von Uckermann went on to co-found FINVIA) — Butz was elevated to Managing Director (Geschäftsführer), co-leading the multi-family office alongside Christian Stadtmüller.
