Background
Jonathan Feroze is best known as the co-founder of Business Monitor International, the country-risk, macroeconomic forecasting, and industry research business later known as BMI. Public records and investor materials identify him and Richard Londesborough as BMI’s founders and co-CEOs. LinkedIn lists him as a University of Cambridge graduate and places him in Greater London.
Business Monitor International received a substantial non-controlling equity investment from Spectrum Equity in September 2009. In that announcement, Feroze was quoted as BMI’s Co-CEO, emphasizing demand for BMI’s proprietary risk ratings, forecasts, and research among corporations operating internationally, particularly in emerging markets. Spectrum’s portfolio page describes BMI as a subscription information and data analytics business and lists its status as acquired by Fitch Ratings.
Fitch Group’s history records the 2014 acquisition of BMI Research, noting that BMI’s research, data, and analytical capabilities expanded Fitch Solutions’ financial information services offering. Companies House records show Feroze resigned as a director and secretary of Business Monitor International Limited on 6 June 2014.
After BMI, Feroze co-founded Sevenex Capital Partners Limited with Richard Londesborough. Companies House lists Sevenex as incorporated on 19 December 2014, with Feroze appointed director the same day and later recorded as a person with significant control owning more than 25% but not more than 50% of shares and voting rights. Companies House records show Sevenex Capital Partners was dissolved on 27 June 2023.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Sevenex Capital Partners was set up to provide seed, early-stage, and follow-on equity financing to ambitious entrepreneurs seeking to scale in the UK and global markets.
- The firm targeted UK companies in media, B2B, B2C, and health and fitness sectors.
- Reported investment size was £50,000-£250,000, with capacity for follow-on investments.
- Feroze’s operating background is strongest in B2B subscription information, data, risk analytics, and international expansion through BMI, so companies with recurring-revenue data or information-service models are especially aligned with his experience.
- His quoted BMI view emphasized proprietary data, risk ratings, forecasts, and research as increasingly important to clients facing global market volatility and emerging-market exposure.
