Background

Jordan Ramer is a cleantech entrepreneur and investor best known as the founder and long-time CEO of EV Connect, an EV-charging software and network-management company he started in 2009–2010. Under his leadership EV Connect grew into an early leader in EV charging management for enterprises, utilities, governments, hotels, and fleet operators, raising roughly $50M from investors including the Ecosystem Integrity Fund, Tech Coast Angels, and Keiretsu Forum. In June 2022, EV Connect was acquired by Schneider Electric, with Ramer continuing to lead it as a subsidiary before transitioning out of the CEO role.

Before EV Connect, Ramer spent his career inside the clean-energy and clean-transportation transition. He was an early team member and executive at AeroVironment (AVAV), where he spent 7+ years in business development, product management, and marketing across its electric-vehicle infrastructure work. He then led corporate development at NanoH2O (LG NanoH2O), a venture-backed water-desalination membrane company that was sold to LG Chem in 2014. He began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP, where he earned his CPA.

Ramer holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson and a bachelor's degree from Skidmore College. Beyond investing, he has served on the Board of Directors of the Celiac Disease Foundation since 2014.

Today he invests and advises as a Venture Partner at Motus Ventures, an early-stage firm (founded 2012, Redwood City, CA) focused on Artificial Intelligence, Climate Tech, and Deep Tech, where he concentrates specifically on clean technology. He describes himself publicly as a "climate-tech investor" and operator-turned-investor.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Stage: Seed and early-stage startups — bringing an operator's lens from having raised "tens of millions" and built a category-leading company himself.
  • Sectors: Climate tech and the energy transition — clean energy, EV charging / electrification, clean transportation and mobility, energy storage, resource efficiency, and adjacent deep tech.
  • What makes him say yes: He gravitates toward hard-tech and infrastructure businesses tied to decarbonization, and toward founders solving real energy/transportation problems — the same thesis that drove EV Connect (he framed EV Connect as "the Android platform" for EV charging and energy management).
  • Value-add: Deep operating experience scaling a venture-backed cleantech company through fundraising, enterprise go-to-market (utilities, governments, Fortune 500 property owners), and ultimately a strategic acquisition.

Notable Investments

  • EV Connect — Founder & CEO of the EV charging management software company; raised ~$50M and exited to Schneider Electric in 2022. (Primary "deal" of his career, as founder/operator.)
  • Motus Ventures portfolio (as Venture Partner, Clean Tech) — participates in the firm's climate-tech and deep-tech investments; specific personal deal attributions are not publicly disclosed.
  • *Note:* No individually verified angel checks are publicly listed under his name in primary sources; earlier aggregator claims associating him with unrelated consumer startups appear to be name-collision errors and are not corroborated.
