Background
Jordi Viñas is a co-founder and General Partner of Nauta Capital, a pan-European venture capital firm focused on early-stage B2B software. He built Nauta alongside partners including Carles Ferrer and Daniel Sanchez, and today the firm manages more than €550M across offices in Barcelona, London and Munich, with a team of roughly 20 people — making it one of Europe's larger B2B-specialist VCs.
Before venture, Viñas spent about 15 years in strategy and telecoms consulting. He was a founding partner of Cluster Consulting in 1993, and when that firm merged into DiamondCluster International in 2000 he became VP for South Europe and a member of the Worldwide Operating Committee. Earlier in his career he worked as a telecoms consultant for Gemini Consulting and The Monitor Company. As an investor, he has concentrated on communications infrastructure, telco-focused enterprise software, mobile commerce, advertising technology and digital media, leading deals across the US, UK, Ireland and Spain.
Viñas holds a degree in Business Sciences and an MBA from ESADE, and a degree in Law from the University of Barcelona. Beyond Nauta, he has served on the Investment Committee of Spinnaker, a VC fund specializing in the media sector.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests primarily at Seed and Series A in B2B software, with typical first checks of €1M–€5M; Nauta's "Nauta Labs" initiative extends into pre-seed/deeptech at £100K–£250K.
- Nauta emphasizes capital-efficient, globally-oriented B2B startups rather than capital-intensive consumer plays — the firm's core positioning is "next-gen B2B software companies."
- Viñas's personal thematic strengths sit in digital media, content, adtech, mobile commerce and communications/enterprise software, reflecting his telecoms-consulting roots.
- Comfortable leading rounds and taking board seats; historically invests across Europe and the US, so cross-border/global-market ambition is a plus.
