Jorg Batjer

Jörg Friedrich Bätjer is a German Mittelstand private-equity investor and co-investor. His current vehicle, Bätjer Beteiligungs-GmbH, presents itself as a co-investor for company succession situations where ownership needs to move outside the family, especially alongside buy-out or buy-in teams.

Before launching this post-Hannover Finanz activity, Bätjer spent 24 years at Hannover Finanz, from October 1996 until his age-related departure on June 30, 2020. His own site says he led numerous growth-financing and succession investments from origination through holding period and exit, including family-owned companies, an IPO, failed cases, and fraud situations.

Earlier in his career, after business studies at Kiel and Penn State, he worked in sales financing for a growing computer and measurement-equipment manufacturer. He then moved into the packaging industry, working in business-development-like roles for new plastic packaging and food-preservation systems, and later as product, sales manager and sales director for injection-molded packaging, especially closures for cosmetics and cleaning products.

Bätjer remains active beyond private investing: FDP Gifhorn lists him as a local council member in Hillerse and an assessor of the FDP district association Gifhorn.

• Bätjer focuses on succession situations in profitable Mittelstand businesses, especially where no family successor is available and a management buy-out or buy-in needs aligned equity support.
• His firm says it supports companies with profit, explicitly excluding restructuring cases and startups, and targets companies from about €5 million in revenue.
• The core model is co-investment alongside managers and other investors, not fee-based consulting. His site states: “Gleichgerichtete Interessen. Wir ergänzen Buy-Out-/Buy-In-Teams als Sparrings-Partner und Mitinvestor.”
• He emphasizes long-term equity partnership rather than purely transactional capital. His site frames the philosophy as “Eigenkapitalpartnerschaft” and says the engagement goes beyond the notary date: as co-shareholder, the investor remains available with advice and practical support.
• His track record is strongly industrial: hydraulics and control electronics, foundries, automotive suppliers, machinery and plant engineering, event infrastructure, furniture/media equipment, and photovoltaics.
• Founders or managers should not pitch seed, venture-scale software, or turnaround situations; the public criteria point to profitable, established smaller Mittelstand companies with concrete succession or buy-out needs.
