Background
Jorge Beruff is a Miami-based investment professional whose career spans leveraged finance, private equity, insurance, and private credit. He holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Finance & Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (roughly 2010–2012). Earlier in his career he worked as an analyst in acquisition finance at ING and as a credit analyst at Brown Brothers Harriman, then moved into investment banking as an associate at J.P. Morgan (Leveraged Finance / Restructuring), and later served as a Vice President in GE Capital's Franchise Finance Group in New York, where he arranged and executed leveraged loans to sponsor-owned franchisors and franchisees in the restaurant and hospitality sector.
In 2017 Beruff joined 777 Partners, the Miami-based investment firm co-founded in 2015 by Josh Wander and Steven Pasko out of a management buyout of SuttonPark Capital. At 777 he carried the titles of Principal and Managing Director, focusing on private equity and the operational management of portfolio companies across the firm's core verticals of insurance, lending, specialty finance, fintech, and aviation. He was a public-facing voice on several of the firm's insurance acquisitions. (Note: 777 Partners subsequently collapsed — the firm entered bankruptcy in October 2024 and ceased operations in 2025 amid extensive litigation — well after Beruff's active tenure there.)
More recently, Beruff has served as a Partner and Head of Private Credit at Eos Venture Partners, leading its Eos Credit platform (where he is listed as a General Partner). Eos is a specialist insurtech investor, and its credit arm brings "deep investment track records across private credit, insurance, and specialty finance." Investor databases (e.g., Foundersuite) also index him individually as an angel investor at the seed stage, reflecting personal/informal activity alongside his institutional roles; he has additionally been associated with roles connected to a private family office, FFI Holdings, and 26North Partners.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Core domain: Financial services broadly — insurance/insurtech, fintech, specialty finance, lending, and private credit. This is the through-line across 777 Partners and Eos.
- What he backs: Companies "creating innovative insurance products" and technology-enabled distribution in underserved or inefficient insurance/finance markets. On the Ensurem deal he framed the appeal as a "change agent in the senior insurance market."
- Private credit lens (Eos Credit): Structured/credit investing that leans on his leveraged-finance and restructuring background, targeting insurance and specialty-finance-linked opportunities.
- Stage: Institutionally he operates at growth/PE and private-credit scale; separately indexed as a seed-stage angel in founder-facing investor databases.
- What makes him say yes (inferred from his deals and background): Real revenue and a credible management team, defensible positioning in insurance/finance niches, and a technology or distribution edge in a fragmented market.
Notable Investments
- Ensurem — Clearwater, FL insurtech providing online insurance (notably Medicare-focused) direct-to-consumer; acquired by 777 Partners after surpassing ~$40M in revenue. Beruff publicly championed the deal.
- Merit Life Insurance Co. — life insurer acquired by 777 Partners (announced February 2020), positioned to serve the retirement/senior population.
- 777 Partners portfolio (broader) — the firm's holdings spanned insurance, lending, specialty finance, fintech, and aviation; Beruff worked on operational oversight across portfolio companies.
