Josh Chapman

Josh Chapman is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Konvoy, a Denver-based, thesis-driven venture capital firm that invests exclusively in the video gaming industry. He founded the firm in 2018 alongside his brother Jason Chapman and their childhood friend Jackson Vaughan, positioning Konvoy as a "picks and shovels" investor backing the technology, tools, and platforms that power gaming rather than individual game studios or esports franchises.

Before founding Konvoy, Josh built a career in finance and consulting in New York City. His prior roles include analyst work at BlackRock, sales & trading at Morgan Stanley, investment banking at INTL FCStone, and management consulting at Toptal. Earlier in his career he served as a political/economic intern at the U.S. Department of State. He studied at Wheaton College, where he also worked as a research assistant in the Economics & International Relations department.

As Managing Partner, Josh leads investment strategy and portfolio development for the firm. Konvoy manages roughly $260–270M in capital and is actively deploying from its $150M Fund III (launched July 2022), with a portfolio of 40+ active investments spanning the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. The firm operates in part like a media company, publishing frequent gaming-industry research and quarterly market reports. Josh is himself a lifelong gamer; he has cited Halo Infinite, Formula 1, and CS:GO among his favorites.

• Gaming-only, infrastructure-first: Konvoy invests exclusively in the video gaming sector, targeting the "picks and shovels" — infrastructure, tooling, and platforms that enable the ecosystem — rather than betting on the success of individual games or esports teams.
• Stage & checks: Primarily seed and Series A (with some Series B), typically writing lead checks in the ~$1M–$3M range and reserving capital for follow-ons.
• Thesis-driven, research-backed: The firm publishes deep-dive research multiple times per week and grounds investment decisions in structural shifts in gaming — distribution, regulation, and tooling that Josh has said are "likely to define the next wave of breakout companies."
• Emerging markets: A stated conviction that a large share of future growth (the "next billion gamers") will come from emerging markets such as Africa, shaping their geographic aperture.
