Background
Juan Diego Martínez de Aguilar is a Madrid-based investment banker with more than 30 years of experience in investment banking and corporate banking. Earlier in his career he served as a Senior Banker at HSBC and ABN AMRO (and, per aggregator data, Société Générale in Spain), where he managed relationships with IBEX-listed companies on a global basis. His long-standing sector expertise centers on electricity, energy and construction.
At GBS Finance — one of the leading independent investment banks in southern Europe, founded in 1991 and known as the reference Spanish investment bank in Latin America — he was one of the firm's principal executives alongside Chairman Pedro Gómez de Baeza and Partner Javier Herrero. He is associated with the firm's Debt Department and, notably, served as Managing Director of GBS Finance's Mexico operations, which generated advisory turnover exceeding US$800 million over a four-year period and expanded the firm into new Mexican regions including Yucatán, Sonora, Sinaloa, Chihuahua and the Bajío.
