Background
Kenny Miller is the CFO & COO of FPE Capital LLP, a London-based private equity firm focused on scaling B2B software, data and software-services companies in the UK and Ireland. He has held the finance leadership role at FPE for over a decade, having joined the firm in 2014. In his role he is responsible not just for fund finance but for the broader operational backbone of the firm — overseeing finance, compliance, IT, HR and ESG.
Miller began his career at State Street, the global custody and asset-servicing bank, before moving into private equity finance. Across his fund-finance career he has gained experience spanning large buyouts and Indian infrastructure investment, before settling into the specialist lower-mid-market software strategy that FPE pursues today.
As FPE's CFO/COO, Miller sits on the operations rather than the deal side of the firm. His remit centres on fund administration, investor (LP) relationships, regulatory compliance and the firm's responsible-investment and ESG agenda — an area he has publicly championed as a way to demonstrate the social-impact potential of portfolio companies. In a February 2023 profile with The Drawdown, he discussed how the CFO role has evolved, FPE's long-term approach to stakeholder relationships, and the importance of maintaining human connection in LP communications as a business differentiator.
Outside of work, Miller spends time with his children, stays active through a range of sports, and is a regular at live-music events.
Investment Thesis & Focus
FPE Capital's strategy (which Miller supports operationally rather than sets as a deal partner):
- Stage & type: Growth-equity investments and lower-mid-market buyouts in *already profitable, revenue-generating* software businesses — explicitly not early-stage or seed.
- Check size: Typically £5m–£25m of equity per business, taking either majority or minority positions (shareholdings ranging roughly 30%–90%).
- Use of capital: A mix of buying out/de-risking existing shareholders and funding organic growth and/or bolt-on acquisitions.
- Sector: "Completely focused" on the software ecosystem — B2B software, data and software services with "advantaged business models" in large markets undergoing structural change.
- Geography: UK and Ireland, which FPE frames as global technology leaders with software sectors valued at over $1 trillion in aggregate.
- Responsible investment: A signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment; ESG is presented as central to the firm's approach — an area Miller personally drives, favouring integrating ESG metrics to show portfolio companies' social-impact potential.
Notable Investments
- Global App Testing — global web and app crowdtesting platform for software developers; FPE led a growth investment (the third deal from Fund III), backing founders Ronald Cummings-John and Owais Peer.
- Codestone — Business Applications and Cloud-services platform focused on SAP and Microsoft technologies; FPE's investment (the ninth from Fund II) was the first outside investment in Codestone's 23-year history.

- Egress — email and data-security software (noted alongside Dynamic Planner and Global App Testing among FPE's software investments).
