Background
Kevin Haggard is a Managing Director in Raymond James' Capital Structure Advisory group, which he joined in October 2025 alongside Alex Rohan. He has more than 25 years of experience advising companies, financial sponsors, and other stakeholders on complex financings, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and balance-sheet recapitalizations.
Haggard began his career in the 1990s as a turnaround and corporate-recovery advisor, working at Arthur Andersen's Corporate Recovery Services and then joining Huron Consulting Group in 2002. In 2005 he joined the restructuring boutique Miller Buckfire, where he spent roughly two decades and remained through the firm's acquisition by Stifel, ultimately serving as a Managing Director in its restructuring practice.
He earned an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania — where he founded the Wharton Restructuring and Distressed Investing Conference (WRDIC), now one of the leading annual events in the distressed-investing calendar — and an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame. He is a CPA (inactive) and has held the CIRA (Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor) designation. He is a frequent panelist and speaker at restructuring and distressed-investing conferences (WRDIC 2017, 2022) and has taught/appeared as faculty at the Practising Law Institute (PLI).
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Operates as a restructuring / capital-structure advisor, not a check-writing angel or seed investor — the "Seed Round / Angel" stub data does not match any verifiable public record of his work.
- Focus areas: special-situation financings, out-of-court and in-court restructurings, distressed M&A, and balance-sheet recapitalizations for companies, creditors, and sponsors.
- Advises across the capital structure and through economic cycles; the Raymond James team he joined was built specifically to meet rising demand for capital-structure advisory amid shifting credit conditions.
