Background

Kevin J. McQuillan is a General Partner at OCA Ventures, a Chicago-based early-stage venture capital firm founded in 1999. He joined OCA to open and lead the firm's Silicon Valley office, bringing more than three and a half decades of technology-investing experience to the partnership. He holds MBA, JD, and BBA degrees.

McQuillan began his investment career as Director of Investments for Equitec Financial Group before becoming a General Partner at Dominion Ventures from 1986 to 1994. He then served as a Managing Director at Comdisco Ventures. In 1996 he co-founded Focus Ventures, whose debut fund was ranked by Preqin as the 7th-highest IRR fund of all time. He is also associated with the Focus Opportunity Fund as a founding general partner.

Over his career McQuillan has been involved with more than 27 IPOs and was named to Forbes Magazine's "Midas List" of top technology investors five times (including a No. 36 ranking in 2007 and No. 41 in 2008), and was featured on AlwaysOn's VC 100 List. He is active on several boards and committees, including as Chairman of the Advisory Board for Benedict Canyon Equities, a member of the Silicon Valley Executive Network Advisory Board, an investment committee member at Western Michigan University, and a board member of the Fordham University Angel Fund.
