Kevin Xu

Kevin Xu is a Partner in the Melbourne office of The Riverside Company, a global private-equity firm founded in 1988 that focuses on the smaller end of the middle market and has completed more than 980 investments across its history. He works within the Riverside Australia Fund (RAF), which launched in 2010, has completed roughly 40 investments, and backs founder-led ANZ businesses with EBITDA up to A$25 million across Business Services, Healthcare, Software & Technology, and Specialty Manufacturing & Distribution.

Xu joined Riverside in 2014 and has spent the subsequent decade working across the full deal lifecycle — new platform investments, bolt-on acquisitions and divestitures. He was promoted to Principal in November 2023 (announced alongside new RAF hires including James Elsom, Hannah Davies and Dominique Ling) and is now listed as a Partner. On his promotion he said, "Over the past decade with the Riverside Australia Fund, I have witnessed first-hand the positive impact of the firm's global connectivity and partnership model."

Before Riverside, Xu began his career in finance as an Investment Banking Analyst at J.P. Morgan, completing the bank's analyst training in New York in 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Melbourne (2007–2011) and completed his secondary schooling at Westbourne Grammar School. He is a native Mandarin and English speaker and earlier did volunteer legal work at the Moreland/Merri-bek community legal service.

Beyond sourcing and executing deals, Xu serves as an investor and Non-Executive Director on several RAF portfolio boards, giving him hands-on governance experience across healthcare, IT services and industrial-software businesses.
