Background
Kingsley Kwok King Chan is a Hong Kong–based private-equity investor with more than two decades in Asian finance. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of London and a master's in finance from the University of Cambridge. He began his career in investment banking, spending roughly seven years in the investment-banking divisions of Credit Suisse and Citigroup in Hong Kong before moving into principal investing.
Chan spent the bulk of his career at Morgan Stanley, where he was a Managing Director in the firm's Private Credit & Equity Division (Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia) from May 2007 to July 2023 — about 16 years. There he led US-dollar private-equity investments into China and sat on the investment committees of Morgan Stanley's USD and RMB PE funds, overseeing sourcing, execution, and portfolio oversight of numerous China deals.
In 2023 he co-founded VisionStone Investment Management (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., where he serves as Co-Founder and Managing Director and an investment-committee member. VisionStone is licensed by Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and describes itself as an Asia-focused firm structuring value-creating transactions — control buyouts and selective minority growth deals across Business Services, Consumer/Retail, and Hardware & Software Tech, mainly in Greater China with opportunistic cross-border activity in RCEP countries and Europe.
Chan is aged around 48 (as of 2025) and holds several board seats and public roles. He is a non-executive director of Hong Kong–listed China Feihe Limited (HKEX: 6186) — a position he has held since June 2013 (re-designated non-executive in April 2017), and from which he is due to resign effective 15 May 2026 for personal work commitments. He is also an appointed member of the SFC's Public Shareholders Group and, per corporate filings, has held board or observer roles at portfolio companies including Baijia, CDP Group, Coinage International, DSG China (Dashang/DSG), Home Control International, IVD Medical, Shanghai KNX, Korres S.A., and CreditEase.
