Background
Klaus Kummermehr is a Swiss-based business angel turned venture capitalist who has been backing technology startups since around 2010. His earlier career spanned more than 30 years across roles as a telecoms executive, a corporate technology customer (CIO), and later as a partner in venture-advisory practices, giving him an operator's as well as an investor's perspective on innovation, strategy and governance. His formal training includes business administration and IT, complemented by non-executive board education — certification from the Board Member Academy at EPFL Lausanne (2018) and the High Performance Boards program at IMD Lausanne (2023).
Within the angel-investing world he is associated with Go Beyond Investing, the Swiss-founded angel-investing platform (created by Brigitte Baumann and Bethann Kassman) that offers deal flow, syndication/pooling, due-diligence tooling and a "Certified Deal Leader" program for individual and family-office investors. Kummermehr acts there as a Partner and Deal Lead, sourcing and leading syndicated seed-stage deals across high-tech and deep-tech sectors.
In January 2021 he co-founded SNGLR Group in Switzerland alongside Dr. Daniel Diemers, Dr. Patrick Sutter and Luca Sambucci. The group combines three arms — SNGLR Digital (advisory), SNGLR XLabs (deep-tech development) and SNGLR Capital (venture capital) — organized as an "exponential enterprise" built around a network of partners and experts rather than a traditional hierarchy, with hubs cited in Boston, Berlin, Rome and Dubai. Kummermehr serves as CEO of the group and Managing Partner of SNGLR Capital, where he oversees early-stage seed funds focused on European longevity and smart-mobility startups.
He is also active in the broader startup ecosystem as a jury member and mentor at pitch competitions and accelerators (including EU innovation initiatives and ETH Zürich programs), and lists work under the "iXZepta" banner focused on decision-making and governance. He remains based in the Zürich/Zug area.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests primarily at seed / early stage in mainly European technology companies with "exponential growth potential."
- Through SNGLR Capital, concentrates on two core themes: *Longevity / Vitality* (including personalized medicine) and *Smart Mobility / Smart Cities* — companies enabled by AI, blockchain, data/IoT/APIs, 5G and robotics.
- As an angel/deal lead, has historically backed deep tech and high tech more broadly: diagnostics and sensors, photonics, SaaS, AR/VR and AI.
- Emphasizes multi-stage due diligence and syndicated investing — as a Go Beyond "Certified Deal Leader," he structures deals for co-investing angels and family offices rather than writing solo checks.
- Looks for strong teams and clinical/technical validation: on the Cellestia deal he cited being "very impressed by the promising Phase I data … and the efficiency of the Cellestia team."
Notable Investments
- Cellestia Biotech (Switzerland) — SNGLR Capital's *first* investment (announced August 2021); a clinical-stage oncology company developing CB-103, a first-in-class targeted small-molecule cancer therapy (advanced to Phase 2).
- iQRON (Dresden, Germany) — added to the SNGLR portfolio in December 2021; a company pursuing an innovative approach to wind-turbine / energy technology.
- Earlier angel-stage activity (since ~2010) across deep tech, diagnostics/sensors, photonics, SaaS, AR/VR and AI, largely via the Go Beyond Investing syndication platform (specific company names not publicly disclosed).
