Background
Kris Duggan is an Australian-born (Sydney) serial entrepreneur, operator, and angel investor with more than two decades in Silicon Valley. He grew up in Houston, Texas and Southern California, and earned an MBA in Information Technology from the University of California, Irvine. He moved to Silicon Valley in 1999, and from roughly 2003–2006 held senior sales-management roles at WebEx (prior to Cisco's $3.2B acquisition). Earlier in his career he co-founded Medsphere (an open-source medical records platform) and OzNetwork (an internet media company).
In 2010 he co-founded and was CEO of Badgeville, a gamification/engagement platform that raised ~$40M (including a $25M Series C) and was later acquired by CallidusCloud (subsequently SAP). He co-authored *Business Gamification For Dummies* (2013). That same year (2013) he co-founded BetterWorks, a cloud-based continuous performance-management (OKR) platform backed by Kleiner Perkins (John Doerr) and Emergence Capital (Jason Green), which raised roughly $40M total. He grew BetterWorks past 100 employees and 250+ enterprise customers before resigning as CEO in July 2017.
Since then, his primary operating focus has been Luna, an in-home physical-therapy delivery company he co-founded ~seven years ago. As of early 2026 he reports Luna reaching a ~$100M run rate, nearly 2 million patient visits, 3,500 clinicians, ~25–55 markets/hospital-system partners, an 88 NPS and 99.7% patient satisfaction, and recognition on Forbes' 2024–2025 Best Startup Employers list (#61 overall, #1 in musculoskeletal care).
Alongside operating, Duggan runs First100 Advisory, through which he invests in and hands-on advises founder/CEOs — specializing in B2B sales execution, go-to-market strategy, pricing, and negotiation. He has also served as advisory chair at Alchemist Accelerator and adjunct faculty at Singularity University.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests primarily at pre-seed and seed, typically participating in rounds (historically ~$2M–$6M sizes) rather than leading them.
- Sector interest centers on enterprise SaaS, FinTech, and workplace/HR productivity tools, reflecting his own operating background in performance management and engagement software; more recently he emphasizes healthtech (driven by his Luna experience).
- Backs and advises founder/CEO-led B2B companies, where his value-add is operational: B2B sales execution, GTM strategy, deal strategy, pricing, and negotiation (the explicit mandate of First100 Advisory).
- Has historically co-invested alongside top-tier funds (Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Accel) and prominent angels, often getting in early on category leaders.
