Background
Landon Smith is a Dallas-based financial services entrepreneur best known as the founder of Riveron, a national accounting, finance, technology, and operations advisory firm he launched in 2006. His stated goal was to build a hands-on, agile consulting firm that matched the entrepreneurial energy of its clients. He served as Riveron's CEO until 2021 and remains Founder and Chairman, continuing as a strategic advisor. Under his leadership the firm expanded across the country, opening offices in cities including Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Washington D.C., Denver, New York, and Minneapolis. Riveron received growth investment from H.I.G. Capital and was later acquired by Kohlberg & Company (2023).
Before founding Riveron, Smith spent roughly eight years at EY (Ernst & Young) across its Assurance, Advisory, and Transaction Support practices, and about four years at Panda Energy International in its Project Finance Group. Across more than 20 years he built deep expertise in financial due diligence, corporate finance, project finance, and private equity consulting, working across industries such as energy, manufacturing, biotechnology, software, and transportation.
He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University (completed 1991), after beginning his studies in accounting and finance at Wayland Baptist University. He serves on the Advisory Council of Texas Tech's Rawls College of Business.
In 2023 Smith founded LS Ventures, LLC, a Dallas-area firm through which he provides capital and strategic support to growth-stage businesses. Beyond investing, he has served as CEO of Envolve, a corporate wellness consulting program, and is Chairman of and a significant stakeholder in footwear brand Hari Mari.
