Background
Lindsay Creedon is a Partner at StepStone Group, a global private markets investment firm that, as of September 30, 2025, was responsible for approximately $771 billion of total capital, including roughly $209 billion of assets under management. She joined StepStone in 2010 and was promoted to Partner in 2015. In December 2025, the firm announced her appointment as Head of Private Equity, effective January 1, 2026, succeeding CEO Scott Hart, who had held the role since 2017. She continues to co-chair StepStone's Private Equity Investment Committee, serves as Co-Head of Private Equity Co-Investments, and sits on the firmwide Global Executive Committee and Partners committee, working out of the New York office.
Before StepStone, Creedon was a Vice President at Citi Private Equity, then a roughly US$10 billion platform spanning equity co-investments, mezzanine, and funds-of-funds. Earlier in her career she worked in corporate strategy and business development on the operating side of major media companies — as a Director in the corporate strategy and business development group at The Walt Disney Company and as a Director of Business Development at NBC Universal.
She graduated cum laude with a BA from Georgetown University. Within StepStone she has also been recognized as a builder of firm culture — she led the establishment of the firm's Talent and Culture Committee and is credited with helping build StepStone's award-winning workplace and employee-development programs. As Head of Private Equity she will continue to manage relationships with some of the largest private-market investors in the world.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests through StepStone's private equity platform via three primary channels: primary fund investments, co-investments, and secondaries — an institutional, multi-strategy approach rather than direct early-stage venture.
- Focus areas within StepStone PE include global buyout managers, co-investments, and secondaries; her Investment Committee role covers the firm's global private equity commitments.
- Operates at institutional scale — StepStone deploys capital as an LP into private equity funds and alongside GPs in co-investments, not as an angel writing seed checks.
- In her own words on the platform: *"StepStone has given me a great platform on which to build my career, and I'm truly honored by this appointment."* CEO Scott Hart described her as bringing *"energy and new ideas"* to the firm's opportunities.
Notable Investments
StepStone invests primarily as a limited partner in private equity funds and as a co-investor alongside general partners, so individual deal attribution to Creedon is not publicly disclosed. Her portfolio activity is expressed through StepStone's private equity fund commitments, co-investment mandates, and secondaries transactions across global buyout and growth managers rather than named direct company stakes. (No individually attributable portfolio companies were verifiable from public sources.)
