Background

Lisa Harris Millhauser is a Principal at Eureka Equity Partners, a Philadelphia-based private equity firm founded in 2000 that partners with management teams to acquire and recapitalize lower-middle-market businesses. She joined Eureka in 2014 (initially as a Senior Associate / Vice President) and was promoted to Principal in January 2020. In her role she sources and evaluates new investment opportunities, leads due diligence, manages Eureka's senior and subordinated debt-lender relationships, and works with portfolio-company finance officers on corporate finance matters.

Before Eureka, Lisa was a Vice President at TA Associates (based in its Boston office), where she sourced, evaluated, and executed minority and control private equity investments in high-growth private companies across a range of industries. Earlier in her career she worked in strategy and financial planning & analysis at Apple Inc., evaluated and helped execute private equity and distressed investments as an Associate at Centerbridge Partners, and began as an analyst in the investment banking division of Goldman, Sachs & Co.

She holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Social Studies from Harvard College.

Lisa has held several portfolio board seats. She currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Advertiser Perceptions and iPEC Coaching, and was formerly a director of Jansy Packaging and Merit Service Solutions (a Eureka III portfolio company).

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through Eureka's lower-middle-market strategy: control buyouts and flexible minority recapitalizations of profitable small businesses, typically writing ~$10–25M equity checks into companies with up to ~$100M in revenue.
  • Sector emphasis on business services, healthcare services, specialty industrials, and consumer; geographic preference for the Eastern and Mid-Atlantic U.S.
  • Eureka's stated approach emphasizes management alignment: "Eureka leads buyouts that bring significant ownership to the operators driving the success of the business," and the firm describes itself as built around "partnering with growth-minded leaders of unique small businesses."
  • On what makes Eureka say yes, Lisa's own framing from the Advertiser Perceptions deal points to companies with defensible, differentiated offerings: "Advertiser Perceptions provides mission-critical intelligence to its customers, and we look forward to working with them to continue to scale and build their unique platform."
  • Value-creation lens favors scaling proven platforms through both organic growth and add-on acquisitions.

Notable Investments

  • Advertiser Perceptions — New York-based market-intelligence/research firm serving media, advertising, and ad-tech companies; Eureka recapitalized the business in February 2023, with Lisa joining the board.
  • iPEC Coaching — Professional / executive coaching certification and development company; current Eureka portfolio company where Lisa serves on the board.
  • Jansy Packaging — Packaging design and supply company; Lisa was a key member of the deal team and a former director (since exited/realized).
  • Merit Service Solutions — Outsourced facilities/landscape and snow-removal services provider; Eureka III portfolio company where Lisa served as a director (realized).
