Background
Liza K. Landsman is a longtime consumer-technology operator and investor who served as a General Partner at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) from 2018 to early 2023. She joined NEA's New York office as a Venture Partner in the spring of 2018 — recruited after her time running an NEA portfolio company — and was promoted to General Partner in 2020, when the firm also closed a $3.6B fund. At NEA she focused on software and services investments across the consumer landscape, spanning e-commerce, consumer internet, and fintech.
Before venture capital, Landsman built a career alternating between senior operating roles and the C-suite of major consumer and financial brands. She was President of Jet.com, where she was a founding member of the executive team and helped drive the company to its ~$3.3B acquisition by Walmart in 2016; she subsequently joined Walmart's U.S. e-commerce leadership team. Earlier she was Chief Marketing Officer and an Executive Committee member at E*TRADE Financial, global head of digital at BlackRock, and held senior customer-engagement roles at Citigroup and IBM, with earlier experience at McKinsey & Company. She holds a B.A. from Cornell University (graduating magna cum laude).
Since leaving NEA, Landsman has returned to operating roles: she was CEO of the investing app Stash from February 2023 to 2025, and in June 2025 she was named CEO of The Points Guy (TPG), the travel-rewards and loyalty platform. Alongside these roles she has served as an independent board director at public and private companies including Choice Hotels International (board member since 2014), Squarespace, and Applause, and as a board member of NEA portfolio company Narmi.
Her identity as an investor is inseparable from her operator background: she pitches herself as someone who has sat on both sides of the table — building and marketing consumer and financial products at scale, then backing founders doing the same.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests primarily at Seed and Series A in consumer internet, e-commerce, and fintech; check sizes during her NEA tenure ran roughly $2M–$50M with a ~$25M sweet spot, and NEA leads rounds.
- Gravitates toward customer-obsessed, brand-driven businesses — reflecting a 25+ year career built on customer engagement across digital, mobile, and social channels at BlackRock, E*TRADE, Citi, and Jet.com.
- Strong thesis around financial technology and access — a theme she carried into her CEO role at Stash, which is built around democratizing investing for everyday consumers.
- Values operating credibility: as a former President of Jet.com and multiple-time CMO/CEO, she tends to engage deeply on go-to-market, customer acquisition, and brand rather than only capital.
- On the loyalty/rewards space she now leads at TPG, she has said: *"There's more opportunity in the loyalty and rewards space than ever before"* — a window into the consumer-value categories she finds compelling.
