Background

Łukasz Cyran is a Partner at Innova Capital, an independent private equity firm founded in 1994 and based in Warsaw. Innova says it focuses on mid-market buyouts in Poland and Central Europe, and has raised seven funds with a combined value of €1.6 billion, completing more than 80 investments across 10 CEE countries.

Cyran joined Innova in 2015. Before Innova, he worked as an Investment Analyst at Waterland Private Equity Investments, a Dutch mid-market private equity fund active in the Benelux, DACH countries, and Poland. Earlier in his career he completed internships with Waterland, Rothschild, Ernst & Young’s M&A team, and ICENTIS, an M&A advisory boutique.

He graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics with a master’s degree in Finance and Accounting. Public Innova materials currently list him as Partner; older press and social posts referred to him as Managing Director, including a 2023 Innova LinkedIn announcement of his promotion to Managing Director.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Innova’s stated core strategy is mid-market buyouts in Poland and Central Europe, focused on companies with enterprise values of €25-150 million and equity tickets typically of €25-40 million.
  • The firm’s preferred transaction patterns are Founder Succession, Platform+, and Corporate Carve-out. Founder Succession is particularly relevant for owner-led businesses where a founder wants liquidity or succession support while retaining some involvement.
  • Sector focus spans business and financial services, technology, manufacturing, consumer, healthcare, and retail. Innova/7 is currently investing with a Central Europe geographic focus and a mid-cap buyout stage focus.
  • Cyran is specifically visible around technology-enabled investments and value creation. Innova’s tech microsite names him as the partner leading tech investments and invites tech entrepreneurs seeking international expansion, M&A opportunities, or operational optimization to contact the team.
  • In a 2026 ION Analytics interview, Cyran emphasized CEE’s macro strength, Poland’s engineering and IT talent base, founder succession opportunities, and AI-enabled value creation. He said Innova uses AI in sourcing, diligence triage, and portfolio value creation, and described the key barrier for founders as “know-how and access to AI-native talent.”
  • On exits, Cyran told ION Analytics that Innova thinks from day one about who will buy a company in five years, with the goal of building assets that strategic buyers cannot ignore.

Notable Investments

  • CloudFerro - Polish specialist cloud-services provider serving the European space sector, climate research, and science. Innova acquired a 30% stake in May 2024 under Innova/7; the portfolio page lists Łukasz Cyran as contact.
  • R-GOL / Unisport Group - Football-commerce and technology platform created around R-GOL, Unisport, AROCAM Sports / WeGotSoccer, and sportbm. Innova’s R-GOL investment began in 2023, and the Unisport portfolio page lists a 75% stake, August 2023 entry, and Łukasz Cyran as contact.
  • Unisport acquisition by R-GOL - In June 2024, R-GOL agreed to acquire Unisport from Nordic Capital to create a larger European football merchandise and equipment platform. Cyran said the deal showed Innova’s value creation through international expansion and buy-and-build execution.
  • sportbm - Polish SaaS platform for managing sports clubs and academies. In 2024, Innova-backed R-GOL acquired a majority stake; Cyran said the acquisition opened an additional SaaS channel into the football ecosystem.
  • R-GOL supervisory-board strengthening - In 2024, Damian Zapłata joined R-GOL’s supervisory board to support European e-commerce expansion and technological innovation; Cyran publicly emphasized Zapłata’s e-commerce strategy experience.
