Background

Maciej Wandzel is a Polish entrepreneur and investor best known for real estate development, capital-market transactions, and sports/media investments. Public profiles describe him as a lawyer by education and an entrepreneur/investor by choice. Earlier in his career he was vice president of brokerage house BMT and served as vice-chairman of the Warsaw Stock Exchange council.

In the mid-2000s he held senior roles connected with Supernova / NFI vehicles, including Supernova Capital and II NFI, and became known on the Polish public markets through listed-company investments and restructurings. Forbes described his 2007 move into post-industrial real estate through Zachodni NFI / NFI Progress assets, including sites in Warsaw’s Praga district and Wrocław.

His real estate work has centered on residential and mixed-use redevelopment. He co-founded or co-owned Soho Creative Housing, Cracovia Property and ImmoLab, and is associated with projects including Soho Factory, Fabryka Perun and Dobra Forma. In May 2024 he was elected president of the Polish Association of Developers (PZFD), after serving on its board from 2021; he was re-elected in May 2025.

Wandzel also has a track record in sport and media. He served as supervisory-board chair of Ekstraklasa S.A. from 2012 to 2016 and was a co-owner / supervisory-board member of Legia Warszawa in the 2013-2017 period. In November 2023 he acquired Krzysztof Stanowski’s 22.5% stake in Kanał Sportowy via Weszło TV, renamed MW Inwestycje.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Focuses on assets where private capital can unlock value through redevelopment, especially post-industrial real estate in Polish cities.
  • In urban projects, emphasizes cooperation with municipalities, architects, planners and local communities rather than only financial optimization; in his words, “Pozycja w Excelu nie może być jedynym kryterium.”
  • Sees housing affordability mainly as a supply problem: he has argued for more serious dialogue between government, municipalities and investors to increase supply and improve access to apartments.
  • In sports/media, appears to prefer established brands with strong audiences and business-development potential; after investing in Kanał Sportowy, he said he would not be operationally involved, but would support financing and business-partner development.
  • No verified public check-size or seed-stage angel-investing mandate was found.
